My favorite Christmas song

"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" (Latin - 12th century)

O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.

Refrain
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Wisdom from on high,
And order all things far and nigh;
To us the path of knowledge show,
And teach us in her ways to go.

Refrain

O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.

Refrain

O come, Desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be Thyself our King of Peace.

Refrain

I like it too. And there's a version I like the best (an artist, I mean), but I don't know which one (who sings it). :(

the one that comes to mind for me is phillips, craig, and dean. i would have to hear more versions of it to decide if it's my favorite, though.

At church on Sunday, we (the choir) are going to walk in holding candles and singing this song. A capella.

Ha! Take THAT!

a capella isn't the problem. (except that it's a dorky word. what's with it being two?) the problem is acapella groups. i don't care if there's not music. it's the cheesy harmony, andy bernard, the break-up, type groups that are annoying.
in other words, i'm sure your choir will sound lovely. :)

The break-up? Was there a capella music in that movie?

pure a capella is beautiful. but groups tend to fill in the background with "vocal accompaniment". that's not a capella. that's annoying.
