my date for the Christmas party
i volunteered at the resident Christmas party friday night. i got suckered into it because the good-looking maintenance guy said he was going to be there, but then he wasn't, so i was very disgruntled at him.
anyway, so when i got there, i went to see if they needed help upstairs, and i ended up finding cornelius sitting down the hall, kind of shoved there because they had fed him early to get him out of the way for the party (they did that with all the people who need help eating who didn't have family coming). so i asked him if he wanted to come out to the party, and he got a huge grin on his face (he doesn't have any other kind), and said yes. we went out to where the party was, but it was crowded so we kind of sat on the outskirts. he was happy just to get to watch what was going on. he can't talk much, so we just sat. i ended up sitting with him for almost an hour. it was nice to be able to do that. that's the kind of thing i wish i could do normally. can't that be a job?

What a blessing - for both of you, sounds like.
yup there is, it's called the recreation department, and that's why it's the perfect job for me too! :)
I got to play at a care home this weekend and it was WONDERFUL! I felt like a fish in water. It's definitely the direction I think I will go when I get to have a direction!
